    Matt is the Ministry Team Leader of Helensvale Baptist. Together with his wife Robyn and their three sons, Stephen, James and Ben, he has been working in churches for more than 15 years, moving from Sydney to the Gold Coast in 2002.  Matt holds a number of degrees and was a Lawyer prior to taking up his Ministry calling.  He is a very passionate man loving his sport and movies but more importantly being able to see people come to know life through the Lord Jesus.

    Stefan grew up on the Gold Coast and has been around HBC for most of his life. He is heavily involved with the Youth and Young Adultss of HBC and is the Ministry Leader for both ministries.  He is passionate about seeing people find their identity in Christ and is a very much loved member of the HBC Family, by both old and young alike.  Stef and his wife Belinda are extremely busy presently, raising their two young children!

    Ian heads our Strategy & Development team.  A large role which deals with forward planning for HBC & Young Discoverer's together with the administrative management of HBC on a day to day basis. He enjoys tennis and golf. Ian moved from Sydney to HBC in 2006 with his wife Chris, and their two adult daughters, Michelle & Kerrie.

    Julie Keal heads up the Children's Ministries at HBC… a large role which includes Playgroup, "mainly music" and Kids Church.  She is also involved with the Kids Hope Program and Religious Education in our local schools.  Julie is passionate about children & their families, and joined our Ministry Team Staff in 2005. She enjoys meeting with people, watching Aussie Rules football and loves a good laugh together with her husband Ian!

  • Zea Eagle : Ministry Leader - Pastoral Care Network

    Zea was born and raised in South Africa.  She immigrated to Australia in 1987 with her husband, David and their two grown sons.  Zea is the Ministry Leader for Pastoral Care, a role looking after the "hearts" of HBC.  She holds a degree in Counselling and has a Graduate Diploma in Ministry.  Her passion is to see people transformed by the renewing of their minds and becoming mature in Christ.

    Stu joined our Ministry Team Staff as a "Student Intern" in 2007 and then after graduating with a Masters in Divinity in 2009 was appointed as our Ministry Leader for Life - Groups. Stu is passionate about helping people grow in the Lord as they L ive I n F ellowship to E vangelise as well as encouraging other leaders of Life-groups. Stu, together with his wife Julie, enjoys exercising to stay fit and healthy.

    Gloria joined our Ministry Team Staff in 2007 as Chaplain at Young Discoverers Childcare Centre. Her main pastoral focus being to the staff and families of the Childcare Centre; a role which she adores and in which she is adored!

    As well as all the beautiful children at YDCCC, she & her husband Ken have 7 grandchildren to love and enjoy!  Her desire is for individuals and families to experience the love, joy and peace that Jesus offers.

    Kerrie joined the team here at HBC in 2010 and is the Deputy Director of the Helensvale Campus of "Crossroads"; a ministry directly aimed at meeting the needs of disabled adults and their carers...  She is also presently studying for her Theology Degree at Malyon College in Brisbane.  She is a vibrant young woman who is passionate about the Lord Jesus & His love!!!

This is blog 8 in a series on the new multi-site Baptist church on the northern Gold Coast. My previous blogs have been, mostly, about “us” as church and the impact the multi-site structure might have on those in the church. However, in our particular example, although acutely aware of the impact the multi-site model will have on the church, our reason for proceeding has been more about “out there” than “in here”! We have consistently reminded both churches that proceeding down this line is about positioning ourselves under God’s leadership and direction to be in the best place to plant more churches around the northern Gold Coast.... "Anxiety"

 

This emotion is a companion to most of us. At times it can drag a person to the pits of despair and sometimes it can keep us there. I know that I have to deal with it regularly. While this issue can fill books there are probably two broad types of anxiety. Firstly, there is the anxiety of an unknown situation where you are stepping out into unfamiliar territory such as going onto a stage in front of many people or going on a journey into unknown territory. This anxiety is often linked to our flight or fight instincts. Secondly there is our anxiety about everything else.
