    "Striving Together ... Saving Lives"

Life-Groups are made up of the larger body of believers meeting in smaller, intimate-sized groups of 5-12 people. They meet in homes or at other places, usually outside the church building, for the purpose of understanding and practicing life. Their purpose is to deepen community, grow leaders and impact unchurched friends with the love of Christ. Our groups are called Life-Groups and use “life” as an acronym to mean: Living In Fellowship to Evangelise, summarising these three equally weighted purposes.

There are different ways you can be involved in Life-Groups at HBC. The first way is to join a Life-Group and give to your group members as you lead various aspects of each meeting! Simply contact the church to get the ball rolling. The second is to apprentice a Life-Group Pastor. In doing so you will be trained to eventually pastor another group. A third way is to be trained through the Small Groups Development course to start a new group. A fourth way is to help the broader ministry of Life-Groups by helping out on Sundays at the Life-Group Centre, or in preparations for the Life-Group Pastor Celebrations held quarterly and other similar events.

Life-Groups train, grow and equip you to practice the Great Commandment and the Great Commission (Matthew 22:36-40; 28:18-20); loving God, loving others, reaching out to the lost and making disciples as you develop your gifts and talents, in a non threatening environment. Life-Groups are not an option, they are essential for your Christian walk and growth.

Matt's Blog

By this all men will know

This is blog 8 in a series on the new multi-site Baptist church on the northern Gold Coast. My previous blogs have been, mostly, about “us” as church and the impact the multi-site structure might have on those in the church. However, in our particular example, although acutely aware of the impact the multi-site model will have on the church, our reason for proceeding has been more about “out there” than “in here”! We have consistently reminded both churches that proceeding down this line is about positioning ourselves under God’s leadership and direction to be in the best place to plant more churches around the northern Gold Coast.... "Anxiety"

This emotion is a companion to most of us. At times it can drag a person to the pits of despair and sometimes it can keep us there. I know that I have to deal with it regularly. While this issue can fill books there are probably two broad types of anxiety. Firstly, there is the anxiety of an unknown situation where you are stepping out into unfamiliar territory such as going onto a stage in front of many people or going on a journey into unknown territory. This anxiety is often linked to our flight or fight instincts. Secondly there is our anxiety about everything else. Our relationships, our job, our ability to survive in this world, our home and so on.... Continue Reading »
